A few specifics worth knowing going in. Spray foam has some odor during application and initial curing, which is why standard re-entry timelines matter — we'll walk you through the schedule for your specific project. In living spaces, code requires spray foam to be covered with an approved thermal/ignition barrier, typically drywall — spray foam insulates and air-seals extremely well, but it is not itself a fireproof or fire-suppression product, and that code requirement applies to a retrofit the same as it would to new construction. And for log cabins and timber-frame homes specifically, spray foam is a well-established option, particularly in roof and attic assemblies and in any stud-framed additions or interior partition walls — the retrofit approach just adapts to that construction type.
Cost and Comfort Payoff
Retrofit projects vary in scope — an attic-only project is a different investment than an attic-plus-crawlspace-plus-rim-joist project, and removal work adds to the scope when old insulation has failed.
